All my ferrets are fixed males. None of them ever fought. I got all of them over the years as kits and added them to the bunch (what is the proper name for a group of ferts?). I had four ferrets by the time I was done. Two have died now, at the ages of 7 and 6... The only problem I ever had with adding a baby ferret was when we got one that was *exactly* eight weeks old. All the adult males wanted to pick him up and carry him to their favorite playing place. The little one made lots of noises in protest, so we kept him in a kennel till he grew a little (a few more weeks, maybe) and they stopped trying to pick him up. We did let them play supervised before then, with us rescuing the little one if an older one got the urge to drag him around by the scruff of his neck. The amazing thing is that we didn't expect that instinctive urge from *fixed* *male* ferrets, but it was there. Oh, and I have an announcement, too... On August 8th, Nose and Impulse got a new playmate. Her name is Katherine Yelena Sylvan, and she weighed 8 lbs 2 oz, and was 20 inches tall. She was not interested in playing with Nose and Impulse at the time, but I believe that will change shortly, as she's growing and changing at an unbelievable rate. Have fun!! *Tigger* (Chris - remember to strip my mail header! and how's your little one?) [Great!] [Posted in FML 0083]
