Greetings - Things have been rather quiet lately. Is everyone else as busy as I am? [Must be. There has been almost nothing for a month] Besides being very busy at work, I just bought a house and will be moving in at the end of the month. (Everyone wants to know if the ferrets get their own room :-) Jester and Cocoa seem to be rather excited about the whole thing. They love to help me pack, climbing in and out of the boxes just to make sure I haven't missed anything. They nearly completely unpacked a suitcase of clothes last night; I guess they didn't like the way I'd packed it. They (both spayed descented females) have also begun to really smell. I've been bathing them regularly and have washed their bed and scrubbed the cage. Could it be the excitement of the move or is it just spring? This is only my second spring with ferrets (my first with two of them). Any ideas? Finally, any suggestions for ferret-proofing a house? It's been relatively easy in apartments, but now they'll have 1500 square feet in which to roam. They usually stay with me when they're out, but every once in a while one of them will sneak off to find some new mischief. Experiences anyone? [I'm planning on building a 2 foot high wall made from 2x2 framing and some 1/8" thick melamine to fence off one end of the furnace room - where the furnace and water heater are. The furnace and the water heater are somewhat dangerous: they just might be able to get into the fan or burner area of the furnace, and the underside of the water heater is quite hot when the flame is on. Besides, that end doesn't have tile. It's rather difficult getting Ferret "stuff" off of bare concrete... Part of the wall will be hinged/removable to allow access to that end] Happy spring to all, Robbin [Posted in FML 0063]
