Since I moved from NJ to CA (ferrets are *legal* in NJ!) I had a problem, called *4* ferrets that I wasn't about to give up. California has a BORDER PATROL stop where rt 80 comes into CA, and one going out of CA into AZ. I don't know of any others... I don't know if AZ has border stops, too, or only on the border of CA... The questions asked are things like: Do you have any fresh fruit, vegetables, plants, gerbils (also illegal in CA), or ferrets? (There might be a few other things on the list). I was shocked first time driving into the state, no others had welcomed me so. I was ferretless the first time, so it was easy to go through. The next time I found out how to drive a couple of hours out of our way through the mountains so I wouldn't have to lie to the nice border patrol. I've mentioned this before, it's legal to treat ferrets here, just not to have them hospitalized overnight... at least that's what my pro-ferret vet says... <anon> [Posted in FML 0052]
