West Virginia has released a very wide Dangerous Wild Animal List. The public comment period is only open until August 1. http://wvpublic.org/post/state-releases-proposed-dangerous-animal-list It states all carnivores except domestic dogs and domestic cats fall under Dangerous Wild Animals. That includes ferrets. The document may be found here: http://apps.sos.wv.gov/adlaw/csr/readfile.aspx?DocId=25971 And here is a link to a petition that has a draft letter. It's written from the point of view of an aquarium & reptile hobbyist, but is a good starting point. <https://www.change.org/petitions/west-virginia-department-of-agriculture-amend-the-dangerous-and-wild-animal-list-for-house-bill-4393-title-61-61-30-3> Please take a moment to mail - yes, that's another part that seems to ridiculous - a letter to the Department of Agriculture regarding this proposed list. I remember when ferrets were legalized in West Virginia. It was only about 30 years ago. I dread the prospect of ferrets being outlawed due to overzealous (possibly oblivious) legislators.
