Just 3 1/2 years ago I received a phone call that a ferret had been found in a park. I went to the animal shelter expecting an "oldie" dumped because of health issues. When I went through the door at the shelter, one of the workers was holding a blanket with a tiny face peeking out.....a BABY! When I took her in my arms I said "She's precious!" And so sweet Precious came into my life. She was never the healthiest of ferrets....a product of Marshall Farms' greedy breeding program, but she was always the sweetest. She never bit, not even when she got melatonin implants. This morning as usual when feeding ferrets their soup, I left Precious for last. It was our cuddle time. I always held her while she lapped up her soup and pred. I gave her tons of kisses each morning and always told her that she was the sweetest ferret ever.... and she was! After all the other ferrets had their soup, I went to get her. She was in Auntie Rose's hanging bed as usual but this time her head was draped over the edge like she was going to crawl out and just stopped. She was gone. My sweet Precious had left for the Rainbow Bridge some time during the night. She wasn't even 4 years old....damn you Marshal Farms any ways. Her cage mates Hero and Moxie, both older than Precious, are devastated. I left Precious wrapped in a blanket in their cage all morning and then on the floor so that Boomer, Snow and Jewel could see that she was gone. The were not cage mates but they were play mates. Tomorrow I will bury her near so many many others. I miss you so much sweet Precious..... Nancy in OR and her 11 [Posted in FML 8047]
