Hi all, I have recently moved from a single floor apartment to a two-story house. My ferret Edgar has been accustomed to having the run of the apartment when we were home (gated off from the kitchen and bathroom) and I want to keep that freedom for him in the new house--I really like that he can interact with us on his own terms, not to mention the exercise, mental stimulation, etc. The problem is our hardwood stairs. Eventually they will have carpeted stair treads on them, but Edgar is not a spring chicken anymore, so I don't think that will be enough for him to be able to go up and down the stairs. I would love to hear about any solutions people have come up with for their ferrets to travel between floors, and see photos as well. The obvious thing would be to put sturdy dryer hose or a tunnel along the wall side of the stairs, but I'm a little anxious about not being able to get him out if he were to stop partway through (he has insulinoma, well managed for now but not being able to get him out of a tube in case of seizure would be horrible). So, any other ideas would be greatly appreciated! (we own, so we can put hardware in the walls or floors as needed) Thanks, and well wishes to all, Regina [Posted in FML 7810]
