We have been using Neovac D since we could not get Galaxie D anymore and have not had a shingle reaction. Some vets are against it as they claim it has not been tested enough to know how reliable it is in preventing distemper. At this time we have not had a ferret come in with the disease - with Galaxie D we had two cases come in and each time only 2 or 3 ferrets caught it - they had not been vaccinated long enough to build up the immunity. Of course, we were also very careful once we knew we had it, shut down for a month and were careful going from one room to the other. For the Neovac D, they are now making one just for ferrets and we have been using it- again, no reaction. How much further testing they have done since it came on the market, I don't know.
