I guess since I don't know where people live, I can only assume that the price of pred (or any med, for that matter) is either a lot higher in more urban areas, or that a lot of vets don't carry the meds they prescribe, which leaves no choice for clients to go to regular pharmacy chains. My Teddy has insulinoma, & has been on pred for just over a yr & a half. I get my pred right at my vet's office. If I got the pred alone, the same amount that Jackie gets (120ml) would cost me a little under $7.00. But since I have FlavoRx added (Teddy loves the Banana Nut bread flavor), it comes to $22.37 -- the same price I've paid every time, the entire yr & a half he's been on it. I've noticed the same issue w/ surgeries. I always read about people who have to pay anywhere from $700 to $900 for adrenal surgery. I've never paid more than $300, & that was for a tricky case. Just out of curiosity, I'd love to hear where people are from (general area, you don't have to name your city), & what they pay for pred, etc. As for me, I live in a rural area in north central Ohio. I'm about half-way between Detroit & Cleveland. W/ *very* few exceptions, my vet's office provides me w/ all the meds I ever need for my pets. The only times I've had to get meds from a pharmacy, or ordered from somewhere else, was for Lupron, & heart meds. It might be interesting to see what the differences are that we're all paying for pet meds, depending on where we live.
