Dear Nancy,

It is possible that someone found your ferret and either kept him or
brought him to a shelter. You don't know for sure that he's gone, so
don't beat yourself up about it. We all make mistakes that we blame
ourselves for. So many if I had done this, or if I hadn't done that,
etc.

Sorry for your loss, whether he's alive or not.
