Your friend will need to do some radical heavy DEEP cleaning, especially using steam and super hot water. If her hot water tank is broken the alternative is to heat the water on the stove. Wash all clothes, bedding (animal and human), every floor surface and baseboards. Focus especially on cracks and crevices. Your friend will want to do this cleaning at least twice a week for about a month. Don't waste money on heart and sargent flea control. Bug bombs won't work for surfaces the chemical cannot reach. The dogs will benefit from an application of pennyroyal oil but don't use that on the cat or the ferrets. Vacuuming daily between cleaning will help but the vacuum bags need to be discarded or the cup cleaned in hot soapy water. When bathing the animals she needs to pay particular attention to the base of the tail, their ears, their chin and their paw pads. If her home is infested it's likely that her car is also as well as the yard. Clean the car with the same diligence as the house. Use 7 dust in the yard and boric acid powder around the front porch and doorways. I keep a rag sooaked in pennyroyal oil in a baggie by the door then wipe down the dogs before they come back into the house. For flea protection on a ferret I highly recommend using revolution for puppies and kittens. [Posted in FML 7521]
