Hi Leslie, I work for a diabetic testing supply company I do know about the meters we offer. I personally use the Accura as I have low blood sugar but we also offer the Ebrace talking meter. I had my vet check them out against the one they use at the clinic and they are just 2 points off on accuracy. Although from what I understand that the Accura is being faised out (my bosses astranged husband owns the company), I believe you can still purchase it on line and I have seen the strips beign sold on Amazon.com. Amazon.com also sells the Embrace meter and testing strips as well and I use the Omni lancets. The nice thing about these meters is that they do have a large test strip memory (up to 350), require a minute amount of blood and give the resding in LESS than 6 seconds. The nice thing about the strips is that they are precoded and have a clear window in the tip so you can see the blood being colected unlike the Free Style meter and some others. I have used my personal meter for my ferrets to keep there glucose levels in check. Many people chose to use the Alpha Trac which is specified for dogs and cats but I prefer using my meter. I se the ote pad most of the time to colect the blood but have with some ferrets had to just clip the tip of the quick. Because the strips I use act like a straw doing it that way is also less stressful for my ferrets. Debi Sadowski Fuzzy Loving Ferrets [Posted in FML 7474]
