>We just put the male of the pair that brought in the ECE to sleep. >I am so broken-hearted and so are my volunteers. He was doing so well Did your vet bother to do any test on the ferret like a fecal excaime like take samples of his poop and was it neon green and smelly, Reason I'm asking is from what all your saying here about him is sounds alot like a stress issue. not E.C.E... Im sorry but my ol vet pulled that On my shelter saying we had an E.C.E outbreak and shut my shelter down fast, my foster parents called me crying telling me what happened and I said no way we had it I knew better and asked them if the vet drs did tests and feceal excaims they told me no they didnt even touch the ferrets the dr just looked at him and said we had it,, the nest day I took the 2 sickest ferrets of the foster parents and 2 of my sickest ferets and went to a different our back up vet and our first vet is supose more experence then the back up vet, but anyways after takeing poos samples and did blood work and all and the were sent to lab and we found out we had an outbreak of the flu,, the foster parents were sick with the flu just a couple weeks befor the ferrets got sick and I even had the flu. That was in march of this year I belive,, I would get a 2nd opion befor you go and have another ferret put down over black poop, he could have been stressed out from shelter shock or something but im sorry that dont sound like E.C.E.. we fired our first vet over this,, you can not go by thinking that what somthing is without testing, blood work or something ..
