Yesterday, when I logged in to my facebook account, I was disappointed to see a post made from a Board of Director of a non profit ferret organization making fun of shelters asking for money on facebook. As she was complaining about bringing her dog into the vet's office, she said maybe she should make a post on facebook about the vet bill to see who would send her money to pay the vet as ferret people love to do this. A reply from a Sr. show judge in the organization made a comment along the lines of Give it a try, the ferret community seems to like to put up money to foot other's vet bills.*LOL* There were others that followed along agreeing. Times are tough and it's even tougher for the ferret shelters but they do their best to care for the ferrets. I give them much credit for saving and taking care of them as best they can. Fundraising is what helps these shelters make ends meet. But really, do you really need to make these remarks about the shelter fundraisers and the ferret community. It would be much easier to just unsubscribe from that person posting fundraiser on FB. Just to be honest, I also had copies of these posts sent to me by others that were upset about it so it looks like the posts are making the rounds in the ferret community. Sorry to say, many will not be renewing their memberships with this non profit organization and will direct their money else where to people and organizations that really care about the ferrets. Shelter moms and dads, I stand up and thank you all for what you do for ferrets and the ferret community. [WF] [Posted in FML 7379]
