Hi folks- we had this message sent to us at Critter Camp by a concerned girl in Louisiana- figured it was best to share here (she said it was ok) and see if any local folks know more: "i have something that i want you to hear, in louisiana there are very many people who do not know about yalls emergengy help program and are letting their pets go into the wild. for instance i got my first ferret from these people my dad used to work with and they told my dad if we didnt take it they were going to let it go to the wild or cook her. we took her in a heart beat and found out that she was part of a bonded pair (we have no idea what happened to her friend) and to cope she started to yank all of her hair out. this was a few years ago but she just started to get her hair back. there is also a ferret rescue place in baton rouge ( wuggie wescue) where we had tried to get her a new friend but that guy was insane he said it was normal for ferrets to fight and draw blood, and he would take them and pick them up by the scruffs of their necks and swing them and do the same with their tails. there is no place around here that does anything like yall do. i would like to see a place like critter camp around in the future and would love to help any way i can. brittanie" So is anyone familiar with this rescue? Any suggestions? Beth Critter Camp Exotic Pet sanctuary www.crittercamp.org [log in to unmask] [Posted in FML 7372]
