Don't you just love to hear good news?? Well, I recently talked with Keith at Father Nature's Ferret Rescue in New Jersey. It has taken more than a full year, but Evelyn and Keith Krysz are up and running Father's Nature Ferret Rescue out of their new home! Woo Hoo!! They have moved into their new home and with the help of Charger, Sammy and Irwin; the three ferrrets who survived the fire, They are still unpacking. And....there are currently 29 residents who have moved in with them -- yes, 29 New Jersey ferrets in need of forever homes. You may recall that Keith and Evelyn endured what we all fear - having a fire in their home/rescue. It has been a long road for them as they lost all but a few precious belongings in the fire, all ferret supplies and most sadly, 25 of their very precious ferrets housed at the shelter. There were a number of setbacks along the way from job cuts, to insurance company issues to ice storms holding up construction, but they and the Mighty Mustelids have prevailed. I am so happy that they have made it to their homecoming. Shortly after the FML family was informed of this tragedy a number of the ferret community took on collecting and storing items for Father Nature's return to a permanent structure. Unfortunately, because of the time and communication issues several of those items did not get to Father Nature's. If you are someone who has been holding onto items (like myself) waiting for the big announcement - here it is!! If you have any sturdy bedding, water and food crocks, medium water bottles you could share or would like to make monetary donations to help Tiny, Princess and Handsome with needed adrenal surgery or Babbet with her needed tumor removal you may donate directly to them, or through Support Our Shelters. Father Nature's would like to extend a hearty thank you for all those who came to their aid. A special thank you goes out to Scales and Tails in NJ who took over referrals and took in fuzzies for Father Nature's as well as those close ferrets friends who helped foster kids as well. Keith and Evelyn would like everyone to know they are doing the best they can and their motto continues to be "Rescue One, until there are none." I'm sure they would love to hear words of encouragement from their ferret community.
