FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - May, 25, 2010 Greater Chicago Ferret Association Shelter Faces a Dire Emergency The air conditioning unit for the Shelter has failed. Facing temperatures in the low 80s to mid 90s pushes the temperatures inside the building into the high 70s and low 80s. A replacement for this system needs to be financed and installed very quickly, within days. Estimates received so far put the cost to the GCFA at nearly $7,000 in parts and labor. This cost falls to the GCFA as the extremely favorable rent left little room for maintenance funding from the landlord. The Board of the GCFA is funding a portable A/C unit to ensure the health of the ferrets until this work can be completed. What we humbly ask is if you could help us fund the $5,000 replacement cost of this unit. The Shelter is not a small space; it needs a four-ton unit to cool the 1,500 square feet in the shelter. If you can find it in your heart and wallet to give whatever you can: $5, $10, $25 or more, the ferrets currently lying quite still in their cages will thank you. Your donations can either be mailed to GCFA, PO Box 3, Lyons, IL 60534-0003 or sent online at http://bit.ly/givegcfa Again, thank you for your time and generosity.
