Florence's post was a great lead-in to announce [drum roll]........ ROCKY'S FERRETSTOCK 2010 - SATURDAY MAY 22ND!!! Old friends getting to see each other, and new faces making new friends! Come One Come All!!! This is an annual event and probably one of the biggest parties of the year. It's not a show at all, it's a gathering for all ferret lovers from all over the country, as well as our fundraiser for the operation of Rocky's Ferret Rescue and Shelter, one of the oldest shelters in the country. Florence made a good point, that in the absence of symposium, you all come party here, even make a long weekend of it. Free camping at the party site is available, as well as hotel lodging within a 15 min drive. Let me know what I can do to accommodate each of you! Rocky's event is just 5 mins from the farm where we live and operate the shelter, in the beautiful countryside of Parkton, Maryland. It's a rain or shine event because we are in a huge covered pavilion that can hold 100 party goers easily, which is nestled in 7 acres of woods. Of course we will have music, by Bob Adams, the original Ferretone!, hot food off the grill and beverages all day and evening! In addition to the great tuneage all day and evening, there will be a Karaoke Contest, and the winner, as chosen by the crowd, will win $100. You don't have to be the best, just the most fun! For details of the event, go here: http://rockysferrets.com/events/fs/ferretstock.html Angela Neiswenter, Rocky's Raffle Organizer has been busy. Wait til you see our new raffle website, it so rocks! Our website master, "Ms. B", is truly the master, and we will be having a state of the art site! Extremely user friendly. We are busy preparing the donations for the raffle site, and I promise you all, they will be unique and exciting. Stay tuned for the announcement debuting our new raffle website! Another exciting feature this year is that radio Station LITE 101.9 will have their travel station at the site in the afternoon and will be having prizes and games for the crowd too! It's been an incredibly rough year, I'm not ready to quit sheltering, the need for providing safe haven to unwanted ferrets is greater than it has ever been in the 16 yrs I've been operating Rocky's. So please, come breathe some fresh air into this tired old shelter mom and sing and dance and party with her. Help me continue to keep the doors of Rocky's open. Thank you for all your past and continued support! Affectionately, Barb Clay Dir of Shelter Affairs for Rocky's Parkton, Maryland 21120 www.rockysferrets.com [Posted in FML 6675]
