To recap: Codo has permanent nerve damage, which often causes his muscles to spasm. When he developed sores on his side from scratching, I assumed the scratching was involuntary; after all, he did look so confused when he was scratching. The sores were more than just a bother, because Codo falls down allot, often into the litter area. Thanks to those of you that responded to my call for advice. I simply didn't know that the hair loss associated with adrenal can make ferrets itchy; I'd never had an adrenal baby lose too much hair, before the prostate was involved, necessitating.... I just didn't think about the situation enough. Codo has hair loss on his side around the sores. I checked his other side and found, if I parted the hair just so, there was a bald patch similar to the one on the side with the sores (if a bit smaller). I'm upping his melatonin dose to compensate. I really hate to see his gorgeous long cinnamon fur going. Thanks again for the help. With respect, Lori in Ohio [Posted in FML 6568]
