Well last night my wife and I were in the 24 hour vet clinic (the only one around that knows ferrets). We were in there from about 10:30 pm to 2:30 am Christmas morning. We suspected a blockage, or a near blockage because there was blood in Diesel's poop. It was still quite red meaning its from the lower regions of the GI. The vet took pictures of Diesel and nothing was out of the ordinary, other than a full stomach, which was because we were feeding him his totally ferret treats to keep him calm. So no obstructions were found in the x rays. The only thing that the vet and I can think of is that when he was eating his Christmas eve feast (which was a raw chicken breast.) He must not have chewed his food enough and a chicken rib fragment must have cut his bowls. Today after lots of meds to help his guts out he seems to be doing much better. He is starting to play again. I have never had a ferret on so many different meds at once, but I can juggle it. Right now he is on Sulcarafate, Pepto, Metaclopromide, and Metronidazole, lots of dook soup and love. So from now on, in my house Chicken breast is off of the menu.
