According to those who research such things, those who have the least are the ones who donate the most. And, regularly, those of you reading this show just how true that is. You show how far a dollar can stretch and how that one dollar, added to others, can make a miracle. So, for those of you you contributed, and those of you who need a miracle, here is some hope for you. Things had not gone well for Kathy lately. With more ferrets in her shelter than she had ever imagined possible, she had just as many in foster care. She also had a vet bill due that, while small to some people, was due and payable before the year's end - and no vet care for the ferrets would be permitted until then. The final straw came when she lost her job last week, putting her in a financial bind. Monday a plea for help went out from the heartland. Someone stepped forward to offer $25 toward her vet bill. Someone else matched it. Then the Ferret Education Foundation and SOS each sent a donation to the vet. By Tuesday, the vet bill was paid and there was a credit waiting the needs of the next ferret. The Ferret Depot, Totally Ferret, Carnivore Care, Pingford's Porridge, Slippy Mats. Just a few of those who stepped up. Bedding, toys and gift certificates were donated. An offer for Christmas companionship and a shared meal. Encouragement. Support. Treats, supplies and needs met. Loving Hearts Ferret Shelter and Kathryn Stewart, may your days be merrier and brighter, thanks to loving hearts in the ferret community. [Posted in FML 6548]
