Char with Northern Nevada Ferret Network received an email ( see below) today-- please ask around-- especially, if you have any Cal. contacts. you can email me and I'll forward any info you have to her ( obviuosly, he's concerned about posting his name.. etc being from California) Sadly, my instinct says it was a dumping.. but, hopefully I am wrong and a family can be reunited. --- On Wed, 11/11/09, Char wrote: Hi Ladies, Need your help posting to forums and group bulletin boards. Hopefully we can help this old guy find his way back home... Below is the information I received. Thanks, Char Hello, My name is Curtis I don't know really how to come about this but, I live in California and I have a brother in Carson city. I decided to surprise him with a visit and on our way home I went to a rest stop and while I was well... doin my business a ferret kinda put himself on my leg at first I freaked out cause that's how horror stories usually happen " it was a cold dark spooky night something crawling up your leg but, having a female ferret I knew what he was. I looked for his owners but didn't find them so I left my name and email posted. I am contacting different shelters but the only one I could find in that area is you guys. A quick description he is about 5 years old his teeth are opaque all the way to the gums. He is a sable really friendly and he is litter box trained so I know someone spent a lot of time with him and are probably missing him alot. Here is what I need help with 1. Could you post somewhere that I have a male around 5 years old 2. If there are any other shelters could you give me the contact numbers/emails and 3. Is there a lost pets online page in your area? if so could you give me the address Thank you so much and if you need a picture I can get you one. I am willing to take care of him until we find his owner I have owned ferrets since I was 18 that's like 10 years so I do know how. I just don't want (we are calling him Carson) Carson and Amnesty (my female) to bond. Thank you in advance for your time Curtis After replying that I would try to help, and asking him which route he took back home, I got this response: We took 88 home my wife and I really enjoy that drive. We have not received any responses yet. I understand that they probably figured it was a lost cause. We hung around the rest stop for about 45 minutes but we also had to get back on the road it was really cold and I couldn't leave him. It looks like he had been out for a while he was looking really malnourished. I am not sure which rest stop it was unfortunately my wife drank way too much water and we made many stops. He has been eating well since we got him and I have a vet appointment scheduled for him on Friday unless we find his owners. Like I said he is a real joy to have, but he is older and amnesty is only 7 months so she is a little too energetic for him but they get along well anyway. I know I would be heartbroken if amnesty disappeared so hopefully we can find his family. I really appreciate your help and please keep in contact I will do the same thank you so much Curtis [Posted in FML 6514]
