I was so excited today that I just HAD to share a cute little story! I've had my ferrets for about 2 weeks now. I realize that bonding will probably take a little while - especially since they're both so young and I'm already their 3rd (and last) person. I've been training Benny to not nip and to stop digging at the carpet. It's working out really well. I just tell him "NO" whenever he does it and then I put him in the carrier for a couple mins. He's really good at giving the "Sad Ferret" face while he's in there. I'm sure you've all seen it - he presses his pink little nose up thru the bars and droops his whiskers down a little and just stares at you. After his 2 minutes were up, I opened up the doors and he wiggled right into my hand! Then he proceeded to cover my hands and lower arms with kisses. When I held him closer to my chest, he stuck his sweet little nose in my face, sniffed me all over, and then covered both of my cheeks in kisses. He even sat still for a few minutes to be petted and talked to! It was the most amazing thing. Joon is still a little standoffish - she doesn't give kisses (unless you have food on your hands or face!) but she also doesn't get in trouble like Benny does either. She just bounds around and plays with her toys and digs in shoes - that's about it. Benny is determined to get into any place he knows he's not supposed to be. His current thing is digging at the carpet beneath the barrier that bars him from the kitchen and laundry room area. Like if he can dig just enough, he'll be able to weasel under it. At the beginning, I had to put him in time out every few minutes. Now, he only goes in time out maybe 6 times a day. I also wanted to say "Thank You!" to Elizabeth and Jennifer who have helped me out with cube and tent bedding patterns. They were very helpful and I really appreciated it! If anyone else has anymore bedding patterns, ideas, instructions, or whatever...keep 'em coming! I [Posted in FML 6471]
