I for one do not think that any breeders should be on the giving
tree. I get at least 5-10 ferrets in every year that are young, not
socialized, not fixed or de-scented. They have never been to a vet
and people get them from 2 breeders in IL and MO that sell them at
flea markets for $50 for a breeding air.

I know that some shelters/breeders are breeding for the right reasons,
but I have none around here anymore. (Saint Louis, MO)

I find it hard to understand how a not for profit shelter can justify
running a small business breeding ferrets for sale.

I would suggest that there be a note placed on the giving tree ferrets
posted by shelter that also breed. That way the people donating the
items can decide if they want to support a breeder or not.
