Wow! I was out all day educating at a Pet Expo and I come home to a bunch of emails already about my post. You people have great ideas! I am so thrilled to see you all excited at the possibility. YES, feel free to cross post to anywhere and everywhere you can. I hope more of you reply on the FML because it can really get the brain storming going. I am so passionate about educating the public about ferrets. There is just so much to teach them. I mean how do you rattle off the entire Ferrets For Dummies book in a 15 minute or so conversation? Sometimes I find myself winded just trying to get it all out! I find that even if people decide ferrets aren't for them through our conversation, they still walk away saying that ferrets are a lot more interesting than they thought. I believe this is how we have to approach it with Ellen. We have to excite her about all things ferrets so she will want to share what she has learned. However, this will not be easy. You are only allowed 1500 characters or less. I had to revise mine three times to try and fit it all the way I liked it. So, she won't get all the info from one letter. That's the beauty of you as individuals. You all will have something different to share with her. I do realize that Ellen broadcasts from CA and that they are illegal there. I hope many of you suggest bringing on the mayor, the fish and game, or who ever can help get this out in the open for what it is. Tell her about the petitions, the highway secures, tell it all. This is where all those uneducated voters will see that ferrets won't breed, and kill all the wild birds or what ever they think. Suggest she expose the true facts on national TV!!!! She would probably have to do the interview somewhere else I would guess. Although, ferrets are allowed in movies somehow, right? Write to her about S.O.S. I don't know if there are any cat or dog S.O.S's, but I don't think so. That is who we are as a community. That is what is special about us. We do it all with passion. Tell her about the rescue fire, how dedicated Sukie (not a vet) is to helping us with our medical, and much more, questions, not to mention our beloved Bill! How we spoon feed them when they need it, how cute it is when they scoot backwards with there paws wrapped around their precious toy. Tell them about that big bon fire I have yet to see, how many different color patterns they come in, about how devastated they are when they are dumped. How hard we work to get them through their depression just to have them diagnosed with Lymphoma. Tell her about that little jill that lost her front leg under her negligent owners mattress, about the rainbow bridge and the hope it brings us all. Why not tell her how we cut their nails? Almost every time I tell someone new they state, "To bad that doesn't work with cats". Well you know that just brings up how similar their teeth and digestive track is. You see, everyone can relate to something in the conversation. Just please, tell her something. It doesn't have to be fancy, it just needs to be sent. I know there are a million other ideas to write about. Just getting to this paragraph I had to add two more ideas to add to the one above it. So if you can, do some more brain storming with me. Even if you already sent your comments in, give some fresh ideas to those who haven't. Let's do this! Let's shine bright enough that we can't be ignored or pushed aside any longer!
