All 17 of the Colorado Box ferrets were taken to the vet on Wednesday night. The vet feels that two have to have surgery right away and has scheduled them for Tuesday. All badly need dentals and a few need teeth pulled, which the vet will do after they've had a week or two to get comfortable with their new surroundings. So far only three seem to be free of any serious health problems. The vet has been wonderful and has offered his services at a very reduced rate. Any donations toward their vet care would be greatly appreciated -- $5, $10, or whatever you can afford. All donations through SOS are tax deductible. The ferret groups that jumped to rescue these 17 cannot afford the vet bills for these ferrets on their own - they need help. Or a thank you card to the vet who has been so wonderful would also be appreciated. He has a bulletin board in his clinic that is almost empty and it would be heartwarming to see it filled with cards from the ferret community letting him know how much we appreciate his help.
