It was a lovely day at de Bridge. SaraFerret was resting comfortably outside her cottage watching de kits playing when she heard de flutter of wings and up flew Mimi, de little girl courier, with a note in her paw. She said, "SaraFerret, I have a note from the Boss that there is a ferret crossing the bridge. Is there anyone you want me to fetch?" Mimi handed her de note and SaraFerret quickly read it. Den she sent Mimi to get de right ones and she headed for de entrance. I was just in time to see a beautiful black roaned mitt fuzzy crossing de bridge. She seemed in a bit of a hurry but she kept looking from side to side as if she didn't quite understand where she was going. At de entrance I introduced myself, "Hi I am SaraFerret and I am de bridgegreeter. Welcome to de Rainbow Bridge. Dis is your new forever home. Here you will have no more pain or suffering. You will have lotsa friends and run on green grass forever. Did I mention the fun and games?" She looked at me kinda puzzled-like and said, "My name is Trinity and I had fun and games and a lot of friends at Mommy Barb's. But then I got to feeling kinda sick and I had to hide it from Mommy, you know how us ferrets are. We don't like to tell our humans things like that until we just HAVE TO. The last time I saw Mommy was when she took me in the carrier and she didn't know it, but I did tell her goodbye. She just didn't hear me. I bet she really misses me. Can you see that I am all fixed up so I can get rid of these phomas and all so at least I can do all these fun and games you are talking about? And where are all these friends you say I will have, I don't see them anywhere?" "Well, Trinity" I replied. "I see you have lotsa of questions. I will do my best to answer dem. First of all I am not telling you stories, but you will have to be patient. Yes, we do tend to hide our sickness from our mommies. We don't want dem to feel bad cause we do. We just wanna dance with joy with our last bit of energy until we just can't. So I know what you mean. Dat is what I did. And as for your phomas and your sick feeling--well we can take care of dat right now." POOF! Before you could say fuzzy, Trinity was feeling just great and she didn't feel any phomas in her body anymore. She began to dance around and all of a sudden she spotted some roses and she began to grab dem from de bush (at de bridge roses don't have thorns). She wove them around and put them around her neck and began to sing, "I am a flower ferret." I began to laugh with her, she looked so cute. But after a while, I said to her, "Trinity, I have something else I forgot to tell you about. Do you see de wings on my shoulders? You will get your very own pair. They are so great for flying about de heavens--it beats hopping from cloud to cloud." "Really", she said. "I wasn't sure if bridgegreeters only got those or if everyone wore those, but I really think those would be great." So off we went down de garden path toward de Wing House where de wings were stored. We opened de door and on de counter was a big box (of course). She opened de box and took out de wings--Bright blue with pink tips. I helped her put on her wings and adjusted her halo. She ran to de big vanity mirror and gazed at her reflection. Den she turned to me and said, "Gee I wish Mommy could see me now." Den I gots an idea. As we opened de door, we were met by a small group of fuzzies, especially one bonded cagemate who hugged Trinity so very tight. "Welcome to de Bridge, Trinity" dey shouted. She glanced back at me and said, "Ok, I guess you weren't telling stories." So we went down de path to de Misting Pond and sat down beside de cool clear water. With one swish we saw a vision of Mommy Barb appear. Trinity started waving and dooking with all of her might. "Mommy, I love you. Thank you for keeping me and loving me. I did tell you goodbye. I feel lots better now. I don't hurt anymore. I have wings now and I will be able to fly. I will visit you one day in your dreams. I picked roses here and I am a flower ferret. I have friends here too." Den she began to throw hugs and kisses and wrapped dem with all of her love and laid dem on a nearby shooting star and by de time you should read dis it should have landed dere. And with another swish de vision was gone. Den we left dere and went on down de road to Rocky's Place. Dere was music playing and fuzzies were dancing. I could see food was laid out--all sorts and all kinds--from m&m's to squirt cheese and crackers. Trinity was having such fun. I gave her a hug and said my goodbyes. Trinity have found her new forever home. I headed on back to my own cottage and thought to myself. Blessed are de rescuers for dey shall wear crowns of gold in de heavens.
