Thank You for the enlightenment on the PetCo/Real Canadian Ferrets. I gather that Real Canadian Ferrets is a Breeder in Manitoba. And I have to personally commend them for their breeding practices and making available healthy, active, mild natured Fuzzies for us. What happens after the Ferrets leave their facility is influenced by the Humans caring, or lack of care for them. On the Temperament thing, Ferrets like Humans are definitely individuals with different traits and behaviors. I soon learned that after becoming a Ferret owner. And I have not tried to change my Ferrets behaviors, but find them very amusing, and learned how to work around problem areas. I started out with one Ferret Daisy, a little "runt of the litter", a Dark Sable. Then thought she needed a companion of her own kind. Here comes Cinnamon who Daisy took to immediately enjoying having the companion. Daisy groomed her, taught her how to sleep in a Hammock, use a litter box, etc. The two could and did "talk to each other". Then I wanted a "Big Boy" and found Jasper (Albino), a customer return at a PetCo. He is presently my "Clown". Life is that to him.... And doesn't pick on the Girls. Rather enjoys destroying my Couch by flipping the loose cushions off. Good exercise for him and he is a very healthy, muscular boy. Then I got Herbie a Shelter Boy, well behaved. No problem traits, and he and Jasper love their high speed wrestling matches. Best of buddies, and neither picks on the Girls. Then I lost Cinnamon to Cancer.... Some time after acquired Olivia, a cute little Angora. I was already aware an Angora is a whole different thing, and begins the learning process for me. I can only define her as being a real "Bitch". In the Ferret Condo she immediately took over the large hammock and not letting the others in. Had two other hammocks for the others. Often one would try to make friends with Olivia in her hammock, but Nooooo. After about a month Olivia started going to the other hammocks, but the other guys didn't trust her. Took a while before things settled down. Olivia still is quite independent and pretty much a loner. Does her own thing at play-time runs. Not a Wrestler. My experiences with the behavior thing.... Frank. PS: FerretSS link below you can see them in action. -- Never forget 9/11 and the cost of FREEDOM!
