There are some great tools for you to help prepare for disaster. One is a pet carrier. That works for the short term of transport but what do you do with the aminal when you get to your storm shelter area? Here are some suggestions. Pet stores sell rabbit cages. They are about 3 feet long, a foot wide and about 10 inches tall. They fold up to a smaller box kind of flat. It includes a bottom pan but over that is a wire grate that any animal would find extremely uncomfortable. Piece of scrap carpet cut to fit that bottom would be great. Add a food bowl and water, small litter pan and a hammy and you are all set for long term stay. Of course food will have to be carried with it. If you have all this together with litter, food and the above you will be very well prepared. Two ferrets could fit well in here and in the short term as many as 4 could fit but no more than that and only for a very short term. The carrier could be dispensed with where the cage itself could be the carrier. The rabbit cages I talk about also have a handle on the top for carrying so this can be a self contained disaster tool for the tube dogs. I would take it out and let them play in it so they will be accustomed to it when it comes to use. They will be less stressed and upset where this will already be familiar and accepted. Think about it. Disaster can come at any time and always in the most short of time so if you set up NOW, then you will be all set up and ready THEN !
