Hello fellow FML members, I'm writting today to ask for help for our recent ferrets that have come in as surrenders. I am very discouraged at the moment because in the matter of 3 weeks we've lost 2 elderly sick ferrets. Unfortunately, despite medical attention & meds. it is not looking so great for some of the others. My heart is breaking having to watch so many in such a short time pass on. I know this is what we do. Out of 13 of the recent additions to the shelter 10 are very old & extremely sick. Of these 10 at least 7 are insulinoma & maybe one or two is not showing signs of adrenal. Some are both & despite implants & dex they are at their time to pass on away from this world. We lost Andre which was heartbreaking to witness such suffering & no amount of money or treatment to help.. Two weeks later was Squirt same thing insulinoma & adrenal. Yesterday I went to check on my ferrets needing meds. to pick one up & thought she was gone as well. Her head just flopped over my arm & I gave her her dex & she came to after a while but she is both adr. & ins. & I know her days are numbered at 8 yrs. old. We seriously need donations desperately for these fuzzies to make their life as comfortable as possible until their time for Rainbow Bridge. On our website @ www.ferretdreamersrescuehaven.org we have a paypal account as well as what we need as far as donations. Paper towels anything can help. We have recieved alot as far as bedding thank you to crafty weasels for your beautiful beds you made & they are all using the new bedding because I believe they deserve the new stuff. Thanks to Kim Fox for listening wholeheartedly to me about our older guys & gals you do not know what a gift it is to talk with you & we appreciate all that you have shared. And to everyone who responded to Andre's poem even Renee did and it wasn't but maybe not even a week after her accident. She never once wrote about her situation just gave her condolences. Such unselfishness and total love for ferrets with her you know it is not about her at all. Alot of the ferret community has been wonderful & I hope you know that we are truly grateful to everyone that has reached out their hand to help. Squirt has a poem as well, as will all of them that pass. I have felt alot of heartache in my time but nothing like the ferrets somehow they have a way of touching your heart & soul to it's very depths. Wishing everyone the best, Shannon Snavely Ferret Dreamers Rescue Haven [Posted in FML 5980]
