WOW you guys are GREAT... progress has been made but we still have a little way to go yet - 2nd group then the transport. > ...From: Vicki Montgomery >Subject: EMERGENCY PLACEMENT NEEDED FOR 11 FERRETS [TX?] > >[Moderator's note: Sorry there's no location info for this one. I'd >normally wait and ask, but the situation seems fairly urgent. Vicki >is in Texas so there's a good chance the ferrets are there too. BIG] BEGIN: Good morning all (good afternoon and good evening for those reading later in the day): I was in fact contacted by 3 different people Friday night/Sat morning who need to surrender their ferrets - all in different locations, including TX. One group was 14 ferrets, one group was 11 ferrets and one group was 4 ferrets. I am helping with both the 11 and 4 ferret groups. The 14 ferrets are being helped by another rescue - if they want to reveal themselves they can do that themselves. I'm just glad they stepped up. I'm not into revealing other people's business any more than I am into flaming. I did NOT reveal the location on purpose. The location is NOT important as transportation will be arranged. If the ferrets need to move through your area I do hope you will offer to transport without knowing the entire route. In fact the ferrets are going to be moved for their protection before transportation to new homes begins. This further serves to protect the person's identity and protects the ferrets from seizure. For those who are upset about the cloak and dagger routine please ask yourself - what if it was you... what if you were suddenly faced with choosing between keeping your ferrets and maybe loosing them to an uncaring group of people who are wanting them gone and may kill them or give them to someone who does not understand ferret needs... what if you did not have a support system close by... what if you could arrange for your ferrets to get to safety without having to endure hateful recriminations from certain other people. What would you do? This person is concerned about being flamed with good reason. Some have speculated who this person is and I have to wonder WHY... what difference does it make - for gossip? sorry I will not respond out of respect for their request for privacy.. speculate away... I'm not telling and I hope others who may know for sure give the same courtesy. Now for more news... several people have responded. Some will not be getting one of these ferrets for various reasons - for the good of the ferrets. ALL of the offers have been great - make no mistake about that. Many WONDERFUL people have stepped up to the plate - no questions asked. Some are from homes already approved and adopted to from me, some are at their upper limits in numbers of ferrets in house now and with other good offers I will spare the full homes from over crowding, if I can. I have even had an offer from someone who I KNOW is good with biters, very patient and loving, to take the little fanged girl, but she is pretty full so will be a last resort - at her request I am still looking for someone good with biters... I have had one generous offer to take all 6 of the 1st group together. If this offer is completed with delivery of those 6 ferrets then we only have to worry about the remaining 4. Many offers did come in for the healthy ferrets. Requests for the adrenal ferrets has been nil. That is not surprising- times are tough right now - but it is disappointing. Maybe I need to find them homes, then ask if anyone would like to help with cost of surgery with donations. SOS should be available to help member rescues. When all ferrets are settled I will, with their permission, pubically thank the people who received the ferrets so if anyone wants to make a donation directly to that person they will know who to contact. For now I thank everyone who is concerned, everyone who has contacted me already, anyone who is about to contact me - LOL - and anyone who is chopping at the bit to help the recipients. Words are not enough thanks, but for now they will have to do. The below ferrets are still needing someone to give them a loving home and maybe donations. 2nd group - 4 ferrets - all up to date with meds. [10/10/2004] 1 Cinnamon male - good health - approx 3.5 years old - will nip your arm or leg and run playing. [02/09/2003] 1 Silver male - adrenal - 5 years old. [06/00/2002] 1 Marked White female - 5.5 years old - has recently lost some weight, may be mouring a lost/deceased cage mate. [06/23/2002] 1 Albino female - adrenal - approx 5.5 years old -- ***ALERT - BITER - has never learned to trust people and will draw blood - strikes unexpectedly. This ferret will be offered to a BITER experienced person only. If you do not have experience, and more importantly patience with a biter, please do not request this little girl. ...
