I think Lori is a wonderful person for doing what she's done. I even personally sent her the poem that someone posted on the FML right after everyone started flaming her and she said she wasn't going to read the FML any more. I wanted to be sure she got it. The poem went like this: People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered, Forgive them anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of being selfish, or having ulterior motives, Be kind anyway.... I'm sure you all remember the poem. I wanted to say that I, too received a card and a letter of thanx - actually 2 because I not only donated money, but I also got another one for donating bedding. I was VERY surprised that she not only was ABLE to TAKE THE TIME to do this, but that she spent her money on the card, letters, envelopes and stamps! I gave because I wanted to feel I was doing something to help. An email would have been quicker and cost less, but she did what she did to acknowledge me for what I did and I greatly appreciated it. I think she felt so obligated by all of this flaming of her to do this - at another great expense - which I'm sure the ferrets could have not only used the time it took her to send these out but the cash for all the supplies and stamps to do so. I feel she did the best she could w/the circomstances that she was faced w/and I doubt if any one person could have done any better! How does that saying go about don't criticize someone until you've walked a mile in his/her shoes? To speak ill of others is a dishonest way of praising ourselves. Anyone can blame - it takes a specialist to praise. As DebV stated, she has a shelter too and those ferrets need help as well. WHO CARES where the money went as long as it got those fuzzies OUT of that hell hole! I have 2 DMK boys myself and they are such sweet hearts. I cried for 2 days when I discovered that video shortly before the rescue and wrote to anyone and everyone I could think of including the governor or Ohio the Human Society and PETA (the last 2 of whom didn't even acknowledge my emails), so what Lori did goes above and beyond! I danced w/joy when I heard they were being surrendered to her and if I'd have had more money to give, I'd have done so! I am just so unhappy w/the few ferret people who are still trying to crucify her - she did her best I'm sure of that! We are all human, and we ALL make mistakes - let's not forget that! The last thing I have to say on this is "The main fault we, as human beings have is the preoccupation with the faults of others."
