I agree with Risa, in saying that it would be nice to have some details--if only to assess what worked and what didn't regarding the rescue--so, going forward any rescue (hopefully never again of that magnitude) can go smoothly (and learn from what worked and what didn't) Working with a shelter myself, I can't even FATHOM taking on so many animals from such appalling conditions--and in a situation such as that--the ANIMALS take first priority--everything else takes a back seat, Perhaps she has not yet had the opportunity to sit down and organize paperwork to give a "final accounting" so to speak... Not to mention, that, as this has been Admittedly, the largest group ferret rescue in the states (if not THE biggest, then one of the biggest) that there is a learning curve--I'm not saying that everything was done perfectly--I'm not even saying how "I" think things should have/should not have been different. What I am saying is sweeping accusations on a public forum, are not helpful. Not to mention--it is my opinion that she is not releasing information about where the re-surrendered ferrets came from out of protection for herself--but for the individual/group returning them to her. Trust me, none of us who work (or run) ferret shelters do so to make money--cause it's not gonna happen--we consider ourselves lucky to just break even....But to make statements such as "we've been had" is, in my opinion, is deplorable. , Cut her a break! If nothing else, Lori stepped in to do something that the rest of us were unable or unwilling to do. If for NO OTHER REASON, that deserves respect and appreciation. This whole situation brings to mind the saying "no good deed goes unpunished".and that breaks my heart. It's not about us--it's about the ferrets. Just my opinion. Michele Paulhus I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good thing, therefore, that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow travelor, let me do it now. Let me not defer nor neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again. [Posted in FML 5811]
