Hello All, I'm fairly new to the FML but am learning a lot. I have the 2 DMK kids, Alexander and my deaf Panda boy Simon (which I thought was had FADD - Ferret Attention Deficit Disorder) which someone kindly pointed out he was probably deaf - sure enough! Than after asking for help to communicate w/a deaf ferret, I was led to a site that had a brochure on ferret sign language - AND IT WORKS! We have the kisses one down good (I had bloody lips and teeth from trying for weeks to teach kisses - this was SUCH a help! And he knows the 'No' signal now too! The light scruffing and the finger shake for 'No' works! He is still startled by me tho when I appear - even if I stomp the floor and we are still working on 'come', but we are making progress. THANX so much! We are also being weaned to a barf diet and I've noticed even my older ferrets (2 are over 4 and one has insulinoma, and one is over 6) ALL have MUCH more energy, play longer and seem healthier! Anyway, what I wanted to tell Wolfy about the rash to ferrets is hopefully the Monostat will work well enough, but there is also a product my fiance uses called Elidel. It IS kinda expensive, but you only need a very small amount and a tube will last him almost a whole yr. It was given to him because he has rosacea (pronounced row-A-sha) which is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition but it gets worse w/certain things he eats. Also pops out after a shower or washing his face. Maybe your rash is some kind of skin disorder like this and something in the ferret fur is making it act up. Just a thought! You can probably get a sample from you GP to see if it helps. ONLY apply it to the reddish areas. Oh and it's a non-steroidal cream.
