As anyone who has followed work like that on adrenal disease and things which ultimately create too high levels of LH in ferrets' bodies knows, this is also related to ferret health (possibly even more so since they are descended from burrow dwelling animals whose main time of activity was in low light periods such as dawn and dusk, i.e. crepuscular): <http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/N/NIGHT_SHIFT_CANCER?SITE=VOICESD> There are some useful posts in the FHL and FML Archives on the importance of darkness, including in FHL posts from AFERRETVET (Dr. Jerry Murray) and info can also be found on how amber light is the least problematic for night lighting while lights that are high in blue components are the worst and green the second worst. Info on that is also in the two archives. (The news article says "red" so I have sent a note asking that it be forwarded to the author in case info has changed, and will also search later. Everything I have read so far in the last 2 years says that amber is best rather than red or yellow.)
