I'm surprised to read this, as you should know that relying on the quick-check test (which has been proven to be unreliable by several sources -- ask any ADV positive household) is in a way worse than not doing any sort of test at all. The particularities of this rescue provide all the more reason to do it the right way -- if we can't do it the right way now, when can we? Another poster talked about shelters using the quick check test "in good faith". Something tells me that ADV is still misunderstood as ever amongst ferret owners. I'm afraid that faith is the only thing backing up those tests. I'm pretty surprised that FMLers seem to be giving a free pass to nearly every aspect of the rescue but are now questioning the only really good idea to come out of it so far. k [Posted in FML 5755]
