It was a quiet peaceful evening at the bridge. SaraFerret was fast asleep in her hammie, surrounded by the little orphan ferrets who had chosen to live with her. Little squeaks and chirps were the only noises that were heard. All of a sudden, a Rush of Wind opened tne door of the Cottage. Then a Voice spoke to SaraFerret, Wake up SaraFerret, a very special sad little ferret is getting ready to cross the bridge and I want you to be there to greet him. Needless to say, when that Voice speaks, that means only one thing, God has spoken. Quick like a ferret, SaraFerret instantly awakes, stretches once, takes care of herself and is out and running to the bridge entrance. (Pant-Pant-Pant) She makes it in time to see the little silver ferret starting to cross de bridge. Oh my, he is crawling across the bridge. She waits by de entrance and he is having a hard time so she begins to creep a bit further toward de little ferret who has stopped midbridge. She whispers something to him and he begins to move a bit more and faster and then he makes to de entrance where he just collapses for a few minutes. SaraFerret says to him, Hi, I am SaraFerret, I am the bridgegreeter. Welcome to the Rainbow Bridge. This is your new home. Here you will have no more pain or suffering. You will run thru green grass and play with other ferrets. No litter pans to fool with. Lots of food and water. Plenty of play toys, lots of fun things to do. The little silver ferret looks up at her and says, Hi, I think my name is Todd, but I am not sure. Somebody bought me and took me home and treated me real bad. Look at me! Dey shaved me. Why did dey shave me, SaraFerret? Dey didnt have to do dat! I didnt do nothing to no one. I didnt bite anyone, I didnt do bad things. Todd, I dont know why humans do what dey do. Some people are strange. Look what some humans do to each other. Dey even kill dere own kind. But here it will be all different. Tell me, do you feel any pain now? Todd says, well no. Matter of fact, I feel pretty good. Dere was a real nice lady dere dat took care of me. She held me and told me about de bridge, but I didnt understand too well. I just kinda laid dere and hurt. But it was kinda nice to be just held for once and then all of a sudden I was here. Then a miracle happened. POOF! Todd's once shaved silver fur is full. Wowsie, he says, How did dat happen? I tells him, oh tings happen at de bridge like dat. Sometimes miracles happen on earth also. Thats why dey have special people who love us fuzzies. Dat's why God created dose special people, to take care of us special ferrets. Todd looked at his new fur and for de first time he cheered up. No more sad face little ferret. He looked at my wings and he asked about dem. What are dose tings for? To fly with, I says. I gave a short demo. Wow, cool, Todd says, do I get dose. Sure do, I says. Wanna go with me, I asks. So off we went to get Todd's wings. At the Wing House on the counter, was a big box (of course). Todd opened the box and there was a set of beautiful pink wings to match the beautiful fluffy pink blanket that had been in his secret backpack. The pink blanket was de only thing dat Todd had brought. I helped Todd on with de wings and he went to de large vanity mirror and gazed at his reflection. He sighed and says, I wish I could just show dat nice lady Stacey who held me until I passes, how pretty I look, and how great I feel now. I told Todd, I had an idea. Together, we left the Wing House and wandered down the garden path to the misting pond. I swished the water and Stacey appeared. You could see dat she misses little Todd. Todd threw kisses and loveys to her and wrapped his love and placed dem on a shooting star which sometimes can take a long time to reach earth. Den promises were made dat maybe one time in de future he might appear to her in a dream or a vision and she could see how beautiful he is now and she would know him as he was meant to be. Den I swished de water again and all de earth visions disappeared. As we walked again on the garden path, Todd and I chattered on and on about the fun he would have at the Bridge and for all eternity. Loveys and hugs SaraFerret, Bridgegreeter [Posted in FML 5697]
