We've had an exception. He had very poor stomach and small intestine
motility and a friable stomach and small intestine due to congenital
deformities. In his case even food remained in the stomach for 8 hours
plus. Rare problem and tricky to help, but know that setting absolute
limits may not work well. Limits for MOST -- now THAT works well. He
had to go to actual 12 hour fasts for food to avoid regurgitation
aspiration risk but his fluid fast was much shorter.
