OK, gotta jump in with TWO of my fave border collie stories. What Alex doesn't know about me is that we had a beautiful black and white border collie named Charlie Williams. (My daughter named him - she also named the cat Valerie Rainbow and her stuffed horse Salad.) When we moved to Iowa we didn't have a fenced yard as I was renting a duplex at the time. So, I put him on a run line from the back of the yard to almost to the front. The realtor called one day and said he would like to show the up for sale house and would it be okay to do it today? Well, having been in a bit of a rush to get out that morning I knew the place was in a bit of disarray and that CW was on the lead, so I said No, let me have the dog put up and the house picked up so they could see it without the distractions and wwe would do it tomorrow. His reply? "Well, if she can't take a joke..." I stood my ground. Later I learned from a neighbor that they showed up ANYWAY - couldn't tell me because he had no right to be there after I said no. Of course, they go outside to look at the yard and meet my CW. Sweet boy that he was, he jumped up on the lady's nice white wool suit with his early spring paws! lol (no, she didn't buy the place, either.) Later, he escaped his lead and we couldn't find him anywhere. A couple of days later we got a call in response to one of our signs. CW was curled up on a woman's front porch and would not leave. When we went to get him, we noticed that it was exactly like the house we had lived in before moving. The boy thought he was home. <sigh> Sure did love that dog, and I bet he would have loved knowing all of our FERRETS! -- renee :) It's amazing how much can be accomplished if nobody cares who gets the credit!
