Iams and Eukanuba are voluntary and only for certain cans and pouches; IT SEEMS others could be mandatory. The Menufoods site is up again. Clicking on the names brings up Excel Spread Sheets right now, so calling 1-866-895-2708 might be best. The Eukanuka site says this plant makes wet foods, but "when in doubt check it out" applies so if you have these foods call to check on non- wet ones, too, and MEANWHILE FEED SOMETHING ELSE. You might want to check with the individual brands as well to see what info is on their own websites. I am leading with the cat foods and not the dog foods since some people feed cat foods whereas dogs foods are very different in levels of taurine, fat, protein, etc. from what ferrets need. Ferret food is still usually best, though some cat foods are fine. Certain specific cat foods by these labels are the ones to look into according to the Menu Foods site: Americas Choice, Authority, Best Choice, Companion, Compliments, Demoulas Market Basket, Fine Feline Cat, Food Lion, Foodtown, Giant Companion, Good n Meaty, Hannaford, Hill Country Fare, Hy-Vee, Key Food, Laura Lynn, Li'l Red, Loving Meals, Main Choice, My True Friend, Nutriplan, Nutro Max Gourmet Classics, Nutro Natural Choice, Paws, Preferred Pets, Presidents Choice, Price Chopper, Priority, Save-A-Lot, Schnucks, Shep Dog, Sophistacat, Special Kitty, Springfield Pride, Sprout, Total Pet, Wegmans, Western Family, White Rose, Winn Dixie Here are the specifics for which Iams and Eukanuba canned and small foil pouch wet foods which are on voluntary recall. Notice that other types of Iams and Eukanuba foods are not affected. The problem was in a manufacturing plant in Kansas which makes wet foods for a number of companies which is why so many brands of foods are involved. Below is part of that company's announcement. <http://www.iamsco.com/en_US/jhtmls/iamsco/news/sw_in_News_page.jhtml?li=en_US&bc=C&pti=IN&ai=3885> BEGIN QUOTE P&G Pet Care Announces Voluntary Participation in Menu Foods' Nationwide U.S. and Canadian Recall of Specific Canned and Small Foil Pouch 'Wet' Cat and Dog Foods Dayton, OH (March 16, 2007) -- In response to the recent Menu Foods, Inc. nationwide recall of wet pet foods, P&G Pet Care has announced a voluntary recall in the United States and Canada on specific 3 oz., 5.5 oz., 6 oz. and 13.2 oz. canned and 3 oz. and 5.3 oz. foil pouch "wet" cat and dog food products manufactured by Menu Foods Inc.
