I'm not going to get into too much detail here. others that were involved can talk more about it if they want. However. in 2001 a shelter in Utah run by Jen Morrison was shut down. She was hording ferrets. around 261 were removed from her 2 bedroom condo. in unspeakable conditions. Some of the ferrets didn't make it. She was given a slap on the wrists and told not to do that again. She "served" her probation period. but I believe she never gave up the shelter. she just got a little more clever about it. She never lost her 503 charity status either. Anyways. I want you all to be aware that she has renamed the shelter she operates: Utah Critter Sanctuary Ferret-Parrot Rescue Shelter Inc http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/UT22.html If you are going to adopt from an individual, shelter or even a pet store. talk to them. investigate. visit their "place of business". See for yourself what the ferret is living in and how all the ferrets there are treated. If you find that it's not safe or a risk for the ferrets than take action to help. This also goes for boarding your ferrets or any animal with someone. Visit them first. make sure you feel safe with the place before you decide to leave your "baby" in their hands.. Merry Christmas and have a great holiday season (please feel free to cross-post) Joanne Ruffner Ferret Corner Shelter www.geocities.com/ferretcorneraz [Posted in FML 5457]
