Thanks Alexandra and Todd! I loved your posts (and I always do!) I thought I'd share some of the favorite and not-so-favorite, edible and not-so-edible things that have been consumed at our house. Keep in mind that some of these items were not willingly given to the kids but were rather sneakily pilfered on their part and then whisked away to remote dark places, only to be found at a later date either by the intriguing smell or just by dumb luck........ The first and most common one around our house to find is the favored Solanum tuberosum. OH Yes! this member of the nightshade family is highly prized in it's raw form and if I leave a bag of them anywhere within 4 feet of the floor an entire twenty pound bag will disappear in less than a night and we spend the next month finding both intact and remnants of the damn things all over the house in various stages of sprouting and rotting....and they also have a broad spectrum of coloring for these stages too! Yes by now we have all figured this one out....it is the potato. U.V adores them and can't seem to get enough......in any form raw or cooked but his two favorites are raw or french fries. Izzy loves french fries too, but the both of them love every and any-thing deep fried... chicken, cheese sticks, mushrooms, egg rolls, pickles, fish, shrimp.....you name it. If it is fried, the cholesterol kings will seek it out and devour it. Lace loves baby food. Now you can give her an intact green bean or chunk of turkey and she will give you a very annoyed quizzical look as if to say " Surely you have lost all sense of judgment and reason....you can't possibly expect ME to eat THAT!" But when offered the same items pureed all smooey and gooey in a jar of baby food, she will devour every last bit and beg for more. Anything from chicken in chicken gravy to tutti frutti to squash....When she is finished with that, she will top it off with a bit of looted kibble from the dogs dish if available. Fenris loves anything carbonated, confectioned, or made from latex-rubber.....Truthfully we are still unsure whether he truly likes drinking carbonated beverages or if he just enjoys dancing around in the bubbly liquid once he dumps the glass......... Here are more items that have been on the "menu" over the years: cool whip (from a container stolen out of the trash) tomatoes (another food item that has to be put up up and way out of their reach lest we find dehydrated and rotting pieces of that as well) cheerios ham popcorn eggs butter (stolen from the grocery bag while the groceries were being put away) fruit loops Gerber fruit puffs (banana) hamburger the cat the dog several field mice that snuck in the house and met an unfortunate demise ( were taken away as soon as we saw what they had) beef jerky hot dogs pizza rolls/pizza heavy cream fish food aquarium water (with head submerged while excitedly watching the poor fish swim around) cheese nacho cheese corn chips raisins chicken nuggets dinner rolls gerber wagon wheels (carrot and cheese flavor) Cheetos gummy worms/bears bacon honeydew melon dish soap graham crackers (anyone noticing the theme we have going with the toddler foods?) toothpaste...which is strange considering the fight that ensues when it is time to brush their teeth. They act as if I am trying to murder them. And then to top it all off, after all the junk they think they want to eat, they ALL refuse to floss! [Posted in FML 5404]
