Hello all my friends! It's been a crazy few weeks at the shelter. We've taken in quite a few ferrets and have loads of surgeries to do. Marylou (named after the super famous Ferrets Magazine editor) and Sindy came from a home. The had already had another home and were from a back-yard breeder. Marylou was in advanced heat but Sindy was ok. Both girls had surgery to be spayed last week and are doing well. They are only about 4-5 months old. The girls are very nippy with strangers but are starting to come around with most of the volunteers (though mommie gets lip kisses too!) Babette, Ziggy & Gigy came from the Brampton animal control. All three are adrenal and are going for surgery on the 12th. Hopefully after surgery, they will be adoptable and find a forever home!!! The trio range in age from 2-3 years old. Shaq is a super sweet 5-6 month old. He was thrown from a balcony in Toronto and brought to Toronto animal control. He's won the hearts of everyone he's met. Auntie Sue and mommie took him out for a walk on Sunday in the ferret stroller and everyone who saw him cooed over his super cuteness. He's going into the vets this week for an x-ray to see if he has any broken bones. Robbie & Tilly broke mommie's heart. Tilly is just about totally bald. She is one of the tiniest ferrets mommie has ever seen and she is also quite blind. Tilly has a nasty growth beside one of her eyes but she is too beautiful for words. Robbie, to mommie, looks like a ferret that was in the shelter many years ago. His name was Flagstone, a BEAUTIFUL black sable. Robbie gives kisses, likes to cuddle and him and Tilly came from the North York animal control. They were set to be killed because Tilly was bald. Though both do have adrenal disease, they will be having surgery to fix everything and hopefully make them adoptable in the near future. Both kids are really skinny but mommie and the volunteers have been giving them 'goo' and hopefully they will be fattened up in no time! The shelter will be taking in 2 more ferrets from Brampton animal control next week, once ADV results come in. We aren't sure of their situation or health but with the shelter's record over the last 2 weeks, i'm sure they'll need surgery of some sort!!! my love and fuzzy kisses to all of you!!
