There has been much on the FML lately about ferret food, so I have finally broken down and made this list! I am simply sharing with you what is on the label. This was a donation to the shelter benefit dinner that did not arrive until after the Toronto Symposium. So, I have 12 5 pound bags of Hartz Bonanza Ferret Gourmet Diet. It is 30% protein (min), 10% fat (min), 5% fiber (max) and 11% moisture (max). Ingredients: kibbled corn, fish meal, poultry meal, soy flour, spray dried animal blood, feeding oat meal, wheat middlings, cane molasses, ground corn, dried plain beet pulp, pork animal fat (preserved with BHA/BHT), raisins, ground wheat, vegetable oil (preserved with BHA/BHT), soybean meal, ground oat groats, soybean oil, salt, corn gluten meal, propionic acid ( a preservative), yucca schidigera extract, dicalcium phosphate, brewers dried yeast, dried chicken egg product, I-lysine, potassium chloride, di-methionine, citric acid, dried lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation extract, dried aspergillis oryzae fermentation extract, dried bacillus subtilis fermentation extract, vitamin A supplement, vitamin D3 supplement, vitamin E supplement, ascorbic acid, biotin, calcium pantothenate, choline chloride,calcium iodate, cobalt carbonate, cobalt sulfate, folic acid, menadione sodium bisulfate complex, menadione dimethylpyrimidinol bisulfite, niacin supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, riboflavin, thiamine mononitrate, Vitamine B12 supplement, copper sulfate, ethylenediamine dihydriodide, ferrous sulfate, magnesium oxide, manganese sulfate, sodium selenite, zinc sulfate, natural and artificial flavor, color added (yellow #5, yellow #6, red #3, red #40, blue #1, titanium dioxide). Now you know exactly why I have procrastinated writing this! If someone wants to address this with Hartz, go for it.
