Pat, I understand your frustration and certainly I would like to annouce to the world who this couple was/is. However, in recent times, even listing a name could get you sued. These breeders are near Baltimore, MD, they showed at several shows and caused issues as several of these shows in the last year. We have banned them from showing or bringing any ferrets to our shows. I would be more than happy to verify the breeder should anyone wish to email me privately. Or if they are concerned about this particular breeder. Also I believe the gentlemen was a judge for a ferret organization. He did not judge for my organization but he did however show and attend. They sold ferrets at more than one show and endangered the animals - they sold unaltered ferrets and told the purchasers they were altered. Two females were almost lost because of this. And then at another show, they sold out seriously sick animals to unsuspecting purchasers. Also they misrepresented animals as babies when they were indeed 3-5 years old. They sold a ferret to a couple with younger children who was not a candidate for new owners. They have been causing problems it seems for three years. Animal control was called on them but unfortunately in Maryland as long as the animal has shelter, space to turn around in, water and food, then they are acceptable. Some of the ferrets I have here from their home still have urine burns. The mom's from the babies have urine burns. I cannot imagine how many others do. Ops almost forgot that they brought ferrets out to sell over a year ago and they were unkempt. The ferrets needed baths desperately. Their nails were in needed of clipping and the ears were horrible. They brought these ferrets out to sell. They were not easily handlable but some experienced ferret owners managed to hold them briefly before risking a nip. [Posted in FML issue 5340]
