>If anyone has any experience with a ferret with a sickness that caused >hind end weakness or bladder infections I would love to hear how you >made out.... >Debbie I have a ferret that had the exact same symptons, I finally had an xray done and he had what the vet called striations on his spine, just above his back legs, she had never seen anything like it and called in an orthopedic specialist. He told me that in order to do surgery he would have to rule out cancer with a cat scan...cost about 1,200 then the surgery would be around 2-3,000. Well, until October I will not have that kind of money, but in October we will be attempting the cat scan and surgery.... In the meantime, I got a cheap litter box for cats and cut the front completely off and filed it smooth....turo will use that box, he still smears everything but he gets a bath in the am and again a small soak and cleaning in the evening..he hates getting dirty.....it has been at least 6 months now and he has not changed much in condition....but the best thing I did was get wheels for him.....he loves them and gets around on them very well, he could keep up with the others again and got to play...I really think that is what he was missing the most, the ability to play and be mobile..he could get around alright it just took him forever to get to where he wanted to . I got my wheels from the greatest people in Texas. I am going to include the email and if you would like me to I would be happy to email you a picture of his wheels, the cost of the wheels including shipping was 45 dollars...it would have been worth 4 times that much like some of the other sites charge, these are better wheels and they will adjust them as needed. I wish you the best and will let you know how turo progresses. the email addy is [log in to unmask] I am sure you will be happy, they also have ferrets and did the first set for a ferret on the giving tree and have been doing them since. beverly, the thugs and the gourmets [Posted in FML issue 5294]
