I will ask her if I can forward her unaltered and complete letter to the FML, and if people can be allowed to forward it beyond. Paraphrasing: the meeting is May 18th, is being held at the request of 3 other groups (AVMA, NASPHV, and one I don't know, the Council for State and Territorial Epidemiologists) and is for information sharing only. It is not a policy setting meeting. She also said that she has not been informed of a desire to discuss ferrets by any of the groups who asked for the meeting. Further, she says that since the improvement to the Compendium of Animal Rabies Control and Prevention that she thinks that most parts of the U.S. now consider ferret to be domesticated pet species the same as dogs and cats. -- Sukie (not a vet, and not speaking for any of the below in my private posts) Recommended health resources to help ferrets and the people who love them: Ferret Health List http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/ferrethealth FHL Archives http://ferrethealth.org/archive/ AFIP Ferret Pathology http://www.afip.org/ferrets/index.html Miamiferrets http://www.miamiferret.org/fhc/ International Ferret Congress Critical References http://www.ferretcongress.org [Posted in FML issue 5237]
