Well, I figure the more the merrier as long as good health info is available. The FHL which was begun by Christopher Bennett 5 years ago is the first FHL. The original moderators were Christopher, Dr. Bruce Williams DVM, Mike Janke, and me. Later we were joined by Pam Sessoms who is also our librarian and she and Eric maintain the archives which are absolutely first rate, and by Troy Lynn Eckart as a moderator. Christopher has since passed away. Bruce is on hiatus starting with when the Iraq War began (no surprise since he is with the AFIP) but occasionally jumps in, and Troy Lynn sometimes lacks time. BTW, all of us originally go to know each other on the FML. We had the FHL first on Yahoogroups as Ferret-Health because they required the dashes then, but then because of problems with malfunctions Christopher moved us to Smartgroups. Current membership is over 1,900, including many vets, though some of those only reply privately, and some others stay below the radar. Some of the member vets have given me permission to carry informative posts of theirs to the FML when I have time to do so. After we finally let go of the old Yahoo address (which is still listed on a links page from Geocities which the hosting company has never let me edit) that address was taken over by someone else who created a ferret health list which has about 200 members if I recall right. I don't know if any vets are there. It feels strange to hear that a third one is being created. There are, of course, other helpful ferret health discussion groups such as the forum at Miamiferrets. -- Sukie (not a vet) Ferret Health List co-moderator http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/ferrethealth FHL Archives fan http://ferrethealth.org/archive/ replacing http://fhl.sonic-weasel.org International Ferret Congress advisor http://www.ferretcongress.org [Posted in FML issue 5192]
