Hi Everyone! Rocky loves raw chicken and egg yolk, and chicken gravy and would eat it all the time if I gave it to him. I like the idea of feeding him chicken, but he's only been getting what I buy for myself, which is boneless, skinless chicken breast (no antibiotics/hormones and cage free/humane). He seems to like it best raw. What can I give him that would be more nutritionally complete? Chicken wings? Do I have to chop it up? I don't think I can deal with feeding him mice (definitely not live). I do have kibble out all the time, but given the choice, he'll take raw chicken over kibble. Since I started cooking for him, he will not eat ANY processed food, like canned cat/kitten or baby food, nor will he eat any cooked chicken from a restaurant or deli. He never ate raw chicken until I started buying the good kind, which I did not for myself but for the sake of the chickens. One day he tried to climb into the fridge and I thought he was going after fruit but the only thing on the bottom shelf was a fresh package of chicken. I couldn't believe he wanted it because in the past he only liked it breaded and fried LOL. When I took the package out and opened it, he looked up at me (you know that look), so I cut off a little piece and was amazed that he ate it. Now he's crazy about it. He would never eat turkey at all until I bought some from the farmer's market. Also prefers it raw. Same with eggs, only raw yolks (or warmed but still liquid). He loves butter too. I guess all the times he begged for fruit and I kept telling him, "You're a carnivore and carnivores eat meat" finally sunk in! Rocky just turned 5 yrs. old, and is my first and only ferret. I can't believe how fast his time with me is going. Dooks! Shron & Rocky--"I don't see you eating cereal all the time, so why should I?" [No comments/flames about salmonella, please; I know the rap and I still eat runny yolks and rare meat myself.] [Posted in FML issue 5155]
