Hello All! Just to clear things up, there is *not* a bill in the Maryland legislature to ban ferrets. Apparantly a Baltimore radio talk show got their facts wrong. Explaining the how's and why's are likely to be more confusing than the truth so I'm leaving that out. The *only* bill in the state legislature is the Ferret Protection Act, HB1292. http://mlis.state.md.us/2006rs/billfile/HB1292.htm. The hope behind this bill is to let ferrets mature a little more before they are sold in our state. The thresholds being that they must be 8 weeks old before neuter/spay, and 10 weeks old before they are transported for sale. There will be much more info, including a petition of support available soon. Michelle Butler MDferretpaws.org [Posted in FML issue 5154]
