Thank you so much, Risa, and thank you, too, to the people who wrote me privately. It is good to know that I do at times succeed decently at helping people find balanced or balancing information. That is what is all about because knowing as much as possible best helps protect ferrets, which is what really matters. Today is a good day. We just found out that the glaucoma med I have been on for the last month to see how it panned out for me is working wonderfully. My eye pressure is all the way down to 16 in both eyes. My eye color has changed from the med, but it's very pretty, too. I went from a slightly pale gray with some blue and green, to a medium blue with a bit of gray and green. A little more green and those who adore the color teal (Danee, Alicia ;-) ) would be forever jealous. I have not had the side effect this med sometimes produces of the eyes looking like mascara and eyeliner are on them, but what the heck, I shouldn't have further visual field loss, plus I don't wake up with eye pain every morning any longer (not a standard symptom but one that can happen). Anyway, Steve and I, and the ophthalmologist are just overjoyed today at how well this med works for me. It's a good day. We're tickled pink. Remember your eye exams, folks, and don't forget things like pressure checks and checking the optic nerve and area around it, peripheral field, and retinas, too. The vision you can help save is your own. I have to get around to trying again to find some hard to come by info for someone now, so I'm keeping this note short; an approach I tried yesterday to find that data didn't work. All a person can do is try... -- Sukie (not a vet) Ferret Health List co-moderator http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/ferrethealth FHL Archives fan http://ferrethealth.org/archive/ replacing http://fhl.sonic-weasel.org International Ferret Congress advisor http://www.ferretcongress.org [Posted in FML issue 5163]
